Karaoke Fridays!

In Night Life on September 16, 2011 at 12:01 AM

It’s Friday, September 16, 2011 and on this day, President Barack Obama will enact a major piece of legislation by signing “The Leahy-Smith America Invents Act”.  This law introduces major changes into our United States patent laws such as harmonizing the United States with the rest of the world as a “first-to-file” country.  Other immediate and impactful changes include rules related to best mode, patent markings and other really intricate, nerdy details that you wouldn’t care about unless you were an intricate nerd like Kenya.  So, to spare you the mundane particulars, let’s just say this is a major reform.  President Obama hopes that such changes will incentivize research, especially within Corporations and Universities, to enhance the job market and economy while advancing technologies and gaining more proprietary threshold in the United States.  In addition to this being pretty historic, (considering there hasn’t been a major patent reform since the 1950s) it may be one of the few bills the Senate has passed in a bipartisan 89-9 vote AND without amendment (H.R. 1249).

If you’re still awake after reading the above, maybe you can celebrate this bill signing or a major reform in your own life by going to one of our favorite Friday night spots in Atlanta: J. R. Cricket’s, Smyrna on South Cobb for Karaoke night fun with Sir Charles Peterson! Oh, you haven’t karaoke-d until you have done it here.  It’s like Showtime at the Apollo meets American Idol tryouts!  And, the best part is, it is nothing but pure fun!  There’s no judging, no pretentiousness and no embarrassment.  You don’t have to know how to sing, you only have to know how to let loose and have a good time.  In fact, if you don’t know how to sing, it may be all the better.  And, if you sing a popular song, no one would know whether you could sing or not anyway because the entire bar will be singing so loud with you and the song, that nothing will matter.  Invite your friends to meet at 9p at JR Crickets and let the weekend begin!

Stilettos! Get your girls and sing together, “Ladies Night” by Kool & the Gang or “Independent Women” by Destiny’s Child.  Ties! Gather your boys and do your “Pretty Boy Swag” by Soulja Boy or “End of the Road” by Boys II Men.  Or one of ya’ll can step out and woo us with some Luther! 😉  That’s what we’re talking about!

Whatever you do, don’t be shy and have fun!  Leave your pretentious behaviors behind because it’s all good when you’re here.  Everyone gets a round of applause and there’s no Sandman to sweep you off the stage.  Just let your hair down and let the mic rip!  With a great selection of food and drinks, we think it’s the perfect place to unwind and finish the week!

Karaoke! That’s What’s Up!
